LOT Polish Airlines has unveiled a new trans-Atlantic link between Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW) and San Francisco International Airport (SFO), with the inaugural flight scheduled for 6 May 2026. The service will operate four times weekly—Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays—using Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners configured for business, premium economy and economy cabins.
Announcing ticket sales on 13 November, LOT said San Francisco becomes its sixth U.S. destination after Chicago, New York JFK, Newark, Miami and Los Angeles. “The United States remains one of our key long-haul markets, and Silicon Valley’s business ecosystem offers strong premium-traffic potential,” remarked network planning director Robert Ludera.
U.S. media welcomed the route as the first nonstop connection between Northern California and any city in Central-Eastern Europe, filling a gap for tech firms with development centres in Poland and neighbouring states. Airport officials highlighted onward Star Alliance connectivity to 80-plus European points via Warsaw.
Introductory round-trip economy fares are expected to start below USD 800, positioning LOT aggressively against one-stop rivals. Flight times of roughly 12 hours westbound and 11 hours eastbound offer a full working-day advantage compared with connections through Frankfurt or London.
For mobility managers, the new service shortens door-to-door journey times for Bay-Area–based assignees supporting Polish R&D hubs and enables same-carrier cargo uplift for high-value electronics. Companies should review travel policies to capitalise on the nonstop option and monitor expected peak-season load-factors once sales open.
