Hong Kong Airlines to resume Xi’an service after four-month pause

Hong Kong Airlines to resume Xi’an service after four-month pause
Route-data specialist AeroRoutes reports that Hong Kong Airlines will bring back its Hong Kong–Xi’an service from 18 December 2025, following a four-month suspension prompted by fleet redeployment. The news was posted at 23:00 GMT on 13 November 2025, well within the last 24 hours.

The airline will start with three weekly Airbus A320 flights, temporarily reducing frequency to two per week in early January before ramping up to five weekly from 31 January 2026. Flight HX418 departs Hong Kong at 21:40, reaching Xi’an just after midnight, while the return HX419 leaves Xi’an at 02:30 and lands in Hong Kong at 05:45.

Xi’an—a major technology and manufacturing hub—hosts several PRC state-owned enterprises and the regional offices of multinationals in aerospace, semiconductors and logistics. The restored service offers corporate travellers a non-stop alternative to the high-speed rail journey or mainland hub connections.

From a mobility-tax perspective, travellers spending fewer than 24 hours in Xi’an may avoid triggering individual income-tax thresholds that apply on extended stays. Employers should keep detailed travel logs to substantiate short-stay status.

The resumption also adds belly-hold capacity for e-commerce goods moving from Shaanxi province through Hong Kong’s logistics gateways to Southeast Asia and North America, reinforcing Hong Kong’s role as a re-export centre.
