Cathay Pacific has relaunched its seasonal Hong Kong (HKG)–Adelaide (ADL) route, operating three weekly Airbus A350-900 services from 11 November 2025 through 27 March 2026. The first southbound flight departed HKIA late on 11 November and landed in Adelaide the next morning, with the airline officially publicising the restart on 14 November.
The resumption completes Cathay’s restoration of all pre-pandemic Australian destinations and boosts connectivity for South Australian exporters, students and tourists. Business travellers gain one-stop links via Hong Kong to 100-plus destinations across Asia and Europe.
The A350 offers 38 lie-flat Business Class seats, 28 Premium Economy seats and 214 Economy seats, plus Wi-Fi that will be free for Cathay Diamond members and Business Class passengers throughout the winter season. Cargo capacity in the A350’s lower hold adds options for high-value perishables and e-commerce shipments.
Flight CX173 leaves Hong Kong at 23:30 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, arriving 10:30 the next day. The return CX174 departs Adelaide at 12:00 on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, reaching Hong Kong at 17:45. Schedules are timed for onward evening banks to mainland China and overnight connections to Europe.
Travel-management companies should update fare contracts and PI filings; Australian entities sending staff to Asia will find the flight noticeably shortens total journey time compared with transits through Sydney or Melbourne.
