Deadline to claim Italian citizenship for eligible minors extended to 2029
Law 26/2026, published on 2 March, extends to 31 May 2029 the deadline for eligible minors abroad to obtain Italian citizenship under the ‘benefit of law’ provision. The extra three years ease pressure on consular schedules and give globally mobile families more time to secure an EU passport for their children.
