Retail expansion at Helsinki Airport: Lindex to open second airside store on 27 February
Swedish fashion group Lindex announced on 26 February that it will launch a 250-square-metre boutique in Helsinki Airport’s new Schengen-area departures zone on Friday. The outlet, which complements the brand’s landside shop opened in 2024, will make Lindex the airport’s largest fashion retailer, covering womenswear, kidswear, lingerie and cosmetics.

Finavia’s terminal-expansion programme has added 4,500 m² of commercial space aimed at boosting non-aeronautical revenue and enhancing the traveller experience along Finnair’s transfer-heavy network. For duty-of-care officers, the additional retail footprint offers more options for last-minute clothing and gift purchases by transient assignees and accompanying family members, potentially reducing downtown trips during tight layovers.

Whether travellers are connecting onward in the Schengen area or continuing to long-haul destinations, VisaHQ can streamline any visa or transit-permit requirements well before departure. The platform’s Finland portal (https://www.visahq.com/finland/) provides up-to-date entry rules, application tools and live support—helpful for mobility managers who want to ensure employees spend more time shopping and less time queuing at consulates.

The store will employ 15 staff and operate daily from 05:30 to 22:00, aligning with Finnair’s morning Asian-bank departures and late-evening European arrivals. Lindex Country Manager Kirsi Rauhala said the expansion is part of a wider strategy to leverage high-spending Nordic transfer passengers; airport sales already account for 6 percent of the chain’s Finnish turnover.

Global-mobility teams routing talent through Helsinki should update pre-trip information packs to include the new store’s location—between gates 27 and 29—and remind travellers that airside tax-free limits differ from those in landside shops. Environmental teams may also note that the boutique follows Lindex’s sustainability concept, featuring LED lighting and recycled-material fixtures in line with Finavia’s goal of carbon-neutral operations by 2027.
