UK Tells Dual British Citizens Abroad—Including 240,000 in UAE—‘Carry a UK Passport or Stay Home’
New UK border guidance states that from 25 February 2026 dual British citizens must present a UK (or Irish) passport—or pay £589 for a certificate of entitlement—before airlines may let them board for Britain. With an estimated 240,000 Britons living in the UAE, the rule could disrupt family visits and short-notice business travel unless passports are renewed in time.
