ETIAS fee set at €20 as EU finalises travel-authorisation rules—cost will apply when entering Switzerland
EU officials have fixed the ETIAS application fee at €20 and confirmed that the scheme will become mandatory in late 2026. The electronic travel-authorisation will be required for short-stay, visa-exempt visitors entering any Schengen country, including Switzerland. Swiss companies hosting non-EU clients and assignees should budget for the fee, update pre-travel guidance and prepare for carrier checks similar to those used for the US ESTA.
