Lithuania pitches first EU cross-border economic zone with Poland’s Suwałki region
Vilnius has asked Warsaw to jointly create a Polish-Lithuanian special economic zone in the Suwałki Gap. The project, still under study, would harmonise tax and labour rules and could introduce fast-track work permits for cross-border staff, opening a new mobility corridor for the defence and tech sectors.
