Finland’s new permanent-residence rules raise bar to six-year stay and stricter language tests
Permanent-residence applicants must now live in Finland for six years and meet tougher language and work-history tests, under Aliens Act amendments effective 8 January 2026. A limited four-year fast track remains for high earners, advanced graduates or fluent speakers. Companies should prepare for longer localisation timelines and higher application fees.
