Spain makes connected V16 beacons compulsory for all vehicles from today
Spain’s traffic authority has replaced warning triangles with connected V16 beacons as the legally required device for signalling breakdowns. From 1 January 2026 all Spain-registered vehicles must carry an approved, GPS-enabled light or face an €80 penalty. Companies with mobile employees or corporate fleets need to source compliant beacons, add usage training, and update travel-risk policies.
