Belgium braces for Entry/Exit System bottlenecks as ACI Europe urges urgent review
A Brussels-based ACI Europe letter dated 27 December warns that technical glitches in the EU’s new Entry/Exit System have already lengthened border checks by up to 70 % and could spiral when biometric registration is ramped up on 9 January. While Brussels Airport has so far avoided the worst queues, Belgian authorities are drafting contingency plans and employers are urged to add buffer time to travellers’ schedules.
