UK to make Electronic Travel Authorisation compulsory from 25 February 2026, impacting French short-stay visitors
The UK government announced that its Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) will become a mandatory pre-boarding requirement for visa-exempt nationals, including the French, from 25 February 2026. French business and leisure travellers will need to secure the £16 digital permit before departure, bringing UK entry procedures into line with similar systems like the US ESTA and the forthcoming EU ETIAS.
