The Czech Embassy in The Hague announced on 11 November that its consular section will be closed on Monday, 17 November 2025, in observance of the Czech national holiday commemorating the 1939 student protests and the 1989 Velvet Revolution.
Applicants for visas, superlegalisations and Czech POINT services are advised to adjust travel and submission plans accordingly. The embassy says emergency assistance for Czech nationals will remain available via the diplomatic duty phone, but no routine services—such as biometric enrolment for employee-card fingerprints—will be provided.
Corporate mobility programmes with Dutch-based assignees should reschedule appointments falling on that date or bring them forward. Given current processing times of two to three weeks for short-stay visas and up to 60 days for employee cards, missing a slot could knock on to project start dates in January.
The closure also affects Dutch or multinational companies planning Czech apostille services before year-end audits. Document-legalisation agents recommend sending paperwork by courier no later than 14 November to ensure completion before the holiday.
Embassies in Brussels and Berlin remain open on 17 November and may serve as alternative lodgement points for urgent cases, subject to territorial-competence rules. Always confirm with the relevant consular section before redirecting applicants.
