Cyprus Police chief unveils major overhaul of Green Line checkpoints and airport security
Police Chief Themistos Arnaoutis told MPs on 5 November 2025 that Cyprus will hire extra staff for Green Line crossings and hand airport perimeter duties to a new Airport Security Corps, all in preparation for the 2026 launch of the EU Entry/Exit System. The changes should shorten queues for commuters and business travellers but will also tighten biometric checks, so employers must ensure travellers’ documents are in order.
