A visa is required for this destination.

Transit visa not required for Passengers with a confirmed onward ticket for a flight to a third country within 24 hours. They must stay in the international transit area of the airport and have documents required for the next destination.

All travelers 6 and older must have a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test taken within 72 hours of departure. Expect a health screening. You must quarantine for 10 days and take another PCR test on day seven

The Specific Purpose visa is required for anyone traveling to Bolivia for business, paid work, marriage, any other activity not related to tourism.

  • Visa application form. Fully completed and signed application form.

  • Original passport. The passport must be valid at least 6 months after the intended date of departure from the territory of the destination country and has at least 2 blank visa pages.

  • Passport-type photograph. Include a passport style photo, with a white background, taken within the last 6 months. You may also choose to upload a photo to your order for us to print. There is a charge associated with this service.

  • Complete itinerary. A copy of round trip tickets or detailed itinerary showing all intermediary countries between your destination and return to country of origin. The applicant's name must be on itinerary.

  • Yellow fever . A copy of the International Certificate of Vaccination (ICV) for yellow fever. To learn more about the yellow fever vaccination or to locate a vaccination clinic, please visit the CDC's yellow fever resource page .

  • Bank statement. A copy of the applicant's most recent monthly bank statement showing proof of sufficient funds. The statement must clearly show the applicant's name as the account holder, the balances of the accounts, and the date of the statement.

  • Hotel Reservation. Hotel reservations for the duration of the trip. The applicant's name must be on the reservation. Reservations must be from the hotel directly or hotel reservation provided by a traveling agency. No reservations from internet booking websites or similar will be accepted.

  • Personal invitation. If visiting friends or family, you must provide letter of invitation with the contact information of the host and visitor, purpose and duration of the visit, confirmation of accommodation including the address, signature and date.

  • Visa application form. Fully completed and signed application form.

  • Original passport. The passport must be valid at least 6 months after the intended date of departure from the territory of the destination country and has at least 2 blank visa pages.

  • Transcripts. Legalized originals of transcripts and any degrees/certificates.

  • Enrollment Letter. Please provide a letter confirming your enrollment from university/college/school in the destination country.

  • Medical Certificate. Copy of medical certificate stating that applicant does not suffer from contagious disease (must include an ELISA analysis for HIV).

  • Visa application form. Fully completed and signed application form.

  • Original passport. The passport must be valid at least 6 months after the intended date of departure from the territory of the destination country and has at least 2 blank visa pages.

  • Official invitation or approval. An official invitation letter or approval reference number from the corresponding Ministry of the country of residence, addressed to the Embassy of the destination country showing the name of the applicant and the type and the validity of the visa.

  • Business Letter. A soft/hard copy of business letter from the sending company. The letter should be printed on the company letterhead stationery, addressed to "The Consulate of Bolivia (Plurinational State of), Visa Section", and signed by a senior manager. The business letter must adhere to the following guidelines: Briefly introduce the applicant (please specify employment status/position held in the company by applicant). State the nature of the business to be conducted (i.e. nature of contracting, etc.) and the names and addresses of companies to be contacted in Bolivia (Plurinational State of). Specify the Type and desired Validity of the visa (i.e. a one year multiple entry business visa). Guarantee of sufficient funds for travel. In the event the applicant is self-employed, please mention the nature of business conducted in Bolivia (Plurinational State of) in the application under "Other" in paragraph 1.15. Specify the place of accommodation in {Country}.

  • State Department Letter. A letter from the US Department of State addressed to the "Embassy of Bolivia (Plurinational State of), Washington D.C. ", giving a detailed description of the purpose of travel, the names and addresses of any organizations to be visited, and the dates of the trip. The letter must contain the applicant's name and the passport number and should have a statement confirming that the US Embassy in Bolivia (Plurinational State of) will take full responsibility for the applicant.

    Bolivia COVID-19 travel restrictions

    • Entry is open
      Bolivia's air borders are open for travel, and many domestic restrictions are lifted.
      Prior to arrival restrictions
      Valid passport. Valid national passport with at least 6 month remaining validity after the date of departure.
      Valid visa. Please see the instructions above if visa is needed and apply.
      Negative COVID-19 test. Travelers entering Bolivia are required to present negative PCR test results, no older than 72 hours, and a proof of health insurance covering COVID-19 treatment.
      Health form must be present upon arrival. All travelers are required to complete their sworn declaration form prior to departure.
