Austria is more demographically in Central Europe than Western but is more affiliated with the Western social and political order than Eastern, particularly because of its historical links with Germany. It is also one of the most visited countries in Europe by tourists.

Since 1997 when she became an EU member, Foreign nationals have been allowed to visit using Schengen visas, including Indians with valid passports.
