Sri Lanka visa for Pakistani is a travel document issued by the government to citizens of Pakistan who wish to visit Sri Lanka for any legal reason. However, not all Pakistani citizens require visas unless in special circumstances, as you will see in this post. Below, we provide all the information you need to make your upcoming trip to Sri Lanka successful.

Do Pakistanis Need A Visa To Enter Sri Lanka

Base din current immigration rules, citizens of Pakistan don’t need a visa to enter Sri Lanka if they are coming as tourists. The Sri Lankan government offers visa-free access to Pakistan passport holders if they plan to stay as tourists for only 30 days; instead of a visa, they will need an electronic travel authorization, otherwise called an ETA that is issued by the Sri Lanka authorities.

A visa is only needed if they plan to stay for much longer.

What is Sri Lanka ETA?

The electronic travel authorization of Sri Lanka is a program launched in 2012 by the government to facilitate the visa application process for foreign nationals s they don’t waste time at Sri Lankan embassies abroad. This document is not available to everyone but only selected countries, and Pakistan is one of them. The ETA grants the holder access to Sri Lanka, and it works like a visa, even if it isn’t one.

You don’t have to visit the Sri Lankan embassy in Islamabad, nor do you have to submit physical copies of your visa. You only have to fill out the online application form, attach soft copies of the required documents, and submit them for approval.

Approval takes only 72 hours or less, and if you are successful, the ETA will be sent to your email address which you must print out and bring to Sri Lanka when you visit.

ETAs are for short visits, and there are two types, namely

Tourist ETA: This one is for Pakistani tourists who wish to spend their holidays in Sri Lanka or visit for sightseeing. You can tour the island country for 30 days.

Business ETA: The second type of ETA is business eta which is strictly for business visits and is also valid for 30 days.

ETAs are active and valid for 180 days after they are issued, but if unused during his period, they expire. Secondly, you can only stay in Sri Lanka with this document for not more than 30 days unless you apply for an extension. Extension applications must be submitted before the current eta expires.

The requirements for visas and ETAs are similar, with some differences depending on the one you apply for. Here are the basic documents required from all visitors applying from Pakistan.
