Brazil breaks international passenger record for second straight year, signalling robust demand for 2026
Data released by the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) show that, even before December numbers are tallied, international passenger traffic through Brazilian airports hit 25.8 million between January and November 2025—eclipsing the full-year total of 25 million recorded in 2024. Domestically, traffic reached 92 million passengers over the same period, closing in on the pre-pandemic peak of 95 million set in 2019.

The combined figure of 117.7 million domestic and international travellers is just shy of the all-time record of 118.7 million—but industry analysts expect December holiday traffic to push 2025 to a new high. Argentina remained the top international origin/destination market with 4.3 million two-way passengers, followed by the United States (4.2 million), Chile (3.1 million) and Portugal (2.6 million).

With more people than ever planning trips, visa paperwork can quickly become a hidden choke point. VisaHQ’s Brazil portal (https://www.visahq.com/brazil/) lets travellers and travel managers handle visa applications online, track status in real time, and tap expert support—helping companies keep staff mobile even as flights fill up and itineraries change.

São Paulo/Guarulhos (GRU) retained its status as the country’s primary international gateway, accounting for 29 percent of overseas traffic. On the airline front, LATAM led both domestic (38.5 percent share) and international (18.5 percent share) markets, while Gol and Azul rounded out the top three.

For global-mobility and travel-management professionals the numbers reinforce three trends: capacity is back, competition for popular routes is intensifying, and demand spikes—such as the upcoming Carnival period—may create the tightest seat inventory since 2019. Companies are advised to secure Q1 2026 travel early and to monitor fare volatility, which ANAC says remains sensitive to currency swings and jet-fuel costs.
