Curaçao Targets 50 000 Brazilian Visitors with New Flights and Hotel Pipeline

Curaçao Targets 50 000 Brazilian Visitors with New Flights and Hotel Pipeline
Speaking on 8 November at Festuris in Gramado, Curaçao Tourism Board executive Hugo Clarinda outlined an ambitious plan to reach 50 000 Brazilian visitors by 2026—up from 40 000 in 2024 and just 10 000 in 2022. The surge is being driven by new air services: Azul operates a direct Belo Horizonte–Willemstad flight, Copa and Avianca provide one-stop options via Panama City and Bogotá, and Latam will launch a Lima–Curaçao route in April 2026 with convenient connections from São Paulo, Rio and Brasília.

To accommodate the growth, the Dutch-Caribbean island is expanding its hotel stock. Two 300-room properties—the Autograph Collection by Marriott and the TUI Blue Curaçao—are under construction and scheduled to open in Q3 2026. Both projects include conference facilities, responding to rising demand for corporate retreats and incentive travel from Brazilian firms.

For mobility professionals, the improved connectivity offers an attractive near-shore alternative for regional meetings that avoids U.S. visa complications. Curaçao sits outside the hurricane belt, provides visa-free entry for Brazilians (90 days) and offers a simplified temporary-work notification for technicians staying under 30 days, introduced in early 2025.

Travel-risk teams should note that Willemstad’s Hato International Airport is undergoing runway works until February 2026; night slots are restricted, and diversion plans are advisable for charter operations. TMCs report that peak-season hotel ADRs are already up 18 % year-on-year, suggesting corporations should lock in allotments early.
