Perth Airport passengers now have a greener, cheaper way to reach terminals after ground-transport specialist SkyBus commenced operations on 3 November 2025. Under a decade-long concession awarded in October, SkyBus rolled out 11 branded coaches—two of them battery-electric—linking the airport’s four terminals with the CBD, Fremantle and key park-and-ride hubs.
The service replaces a patchwork of public buses and ride-shares, introducing 15-minute frequencies during peak periods and capped adult fares of A$16 each way. For FIFO workforces in Western Australia’s resources sector, the change promises more predictable connections between early-morning flights and charter trains. Companies that issue SkyBus e-vouchers can reclaim GST and track usage, easing travel-expense reconciliation.
Sustainability is at the heart of the partnership. Operator Kinetic has committed to electrifying the entire fleet by 2030, aligning with Perth Airport’s goal of net-zero Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2032. Fast-charge infrastructure at the T1/T2 forecourt offsets overnight depot charging and will be opened to other commercial fleets for a fee, creating Australia’s first ‘airport EV hub’.
For mobility planners, the new timetable dovetails with QantasLink’s Indian Ocean flights and increased Singapore Airlines frequencies, reducing the need for costly car-hire day rates. Early user surveys report 94 % satisfaction on punctuality and luggage capacity, though some customers have asked for integrated Transperth smart-ticketing—expected in phase 2 next March.
Travellers are advised to pre-book online during the upcoming cricket Test and summer festival season, when load factors are forecast to exceed 120 % of seat capacity.
