Road Works at Dorohusk Crossing Threaten Long Border Queues in Early November

The General Directorate of National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) has extended resurfacing works at the Dorohusk road checkpoint on the Polish-Ukrainian border. Announced late on 31 October, the maintenance affects both the export lane (outbound from Poland) and concrete slabs on the import side. Traffic is expected to remain partially restricted until 5 November on the export lane and until mid-November inbound.

Dorohusk is a key freight gateway for copper, automotive components and agri-products moving between EU markets and Ukraine’s Lublin logistics hub. During the previous closure of a single lane earlier this autumn, waiting times for trucks exceeded 18 hours at peak.

With Poland’s All Saints’ holiday weekend drawing returning migrant workers and visiting relatives, logistics operators predict a spike in passenger cars as well. Forwarders are urging drivers to reroute via Hrebenne or Korczowa where possible and to prepare TIR carnets in advance to cut clearance minutes.

Customs have installed temporary dynamic scales and signage but warn that cross-traffic between cars and heavy vehicles will be funnelled into fewer lanes. Business travellers should build extra slack into schedules, and supply-chain managers are advised to stagger shipments or shift to rail where feasible.
