Canary Islands awards 2025 immigration-inclusion grants to NGOs

Canary Islands awards 2025 immigration-inclusion grants to NGOs
The Boletín Oficial de Canarias published on 27 October a provisional resolution allocating 2025 subsidies for projects in immigration and social inclusion, managed by the regional Directorate-General of Social Services and Immigration. The fund—whose envelope totals €5 million—supports language training, legal-aid clinics, and fast-track skills assessments for newcomers.

Notable beneficiaries include Cruz Roja’s “Emplea-Ref” programme, which partners with hotel chains to certify hospitality skills within 60 days of arrival, and CEAR’s digital-literacy labs aimed at refugees from francophone Africa. Grant approvals come as tourist arrivals rebound, creating 12 000 unfilled hospitality jobs across the islands.

Global companies with CSR mandates can co-finance approved projects without triggering Brussels’ state-aid limits, because the grants fall under the EU’s de-minimis regulation. Mobility leaders relocating staff to Tenerife or Gran Canaria may also leverage NGO services—such as family-status legal counselling—at reduced cost once projects go live in January 2026.

A final grant list will be issued after a 10-day appeals window. Organisations failing compliance checks may be replaced, so corporates should confirm partner status before announcing joint initiatives.
