Iberia Launches First-Ever Madrid–Orlando Non-Stop, Expanding U.S.–Spain Connectivity
On the first day of the IATA winter season—26 October 2025—Iberia flight IB6851 pushed back from Madrid-Barajas bound for Orlando, inaugurating Spain’s only direct link to central Florida. The A330 service will run four times weekly, adding more than 46 000 seats this winter and complementing the carrier’s existing gateways in Miami and New York.

Orlando’s emergence as a major meetings-and-incentives destination (think SAP’s Sapphire or HIMSS Health IT) makes the route strategically attractive for corporate travel managers. Iberia is courting MICE organisers with free name changes up to 15 days pre-departure and a new “Stop & Share” fare that allows a Madrid stopover of up to five nights at no extra cost—leveraging the hub’s 207 onward destinations.

Spanish exporters also benefit: the A330 belly can carry 14 tonnes of freight per flight, opening a fast lane for high-value perishables and aerospace components to Florida’s booming logistics triangle (Orlando-Lakeland-Tampa). At Madrid, Pharma Cool chain facilities will enable 2-hour transhipments to Iberia Cargo’s Latin-American network, shaving days off current routings via Miami.

Travel buyers should note approval slots for the EU’s new Entry/Exit System (EES) are already embedded in Iberia’s departure timelines; the airline estimates biometric border formalities will add six-to-eight minutes per non-EU passenger once Spain activates the system in early 2026.
