SWISS takes delivery of first Airbus A350 ahead of winter peak
Just in time for the winter season that started on 26 October, SWISS integrated its first Airbus A350-900 into the fleet. The aircraft, which arrived in Zurich on 9 October, operated its inaugural passenger flight to Palma de Mallorca on 25 October and is scheduled for long-haul debut to Boston on 20 November.

The A350 offers a 25 % fuel-burn reduction versus the retiring A340s and introduces the airline’s new ‘Minuet’ cabin design, including a standalone privacy door in Business Class and a 40-seat Premium Economy cabin—features expected to resonate with corporate travellers seeking greener credentials and enhanced comfort.

While only one frame is in service initially, SWISS will phase in four A350s by summer 2026, underpinning parent Lufthansa Group’s decarbonisation roadmap. Travel managers reviewing CO₂-reporting metrics should note that the A350 replaces four-engined aircraft on busy US routes, materially lowering per-seat emissions on corporate contracts.
