Free import
• Pitcairn publishes no duty-free allowances. Personal belongings for your stay may be brought in, subject to the biosecurity rules below.
• On arrival, every visitor fills in a combined immigration and biosecurity declaration form. Declare any food, plant or animal products and any other items listed on the form. Biosecurity officers may question you and inspect your baggage.
Currency
• The currency is the New Zealand dollar (NZD). Pitcairn also issues its own coins, equal in value to the New Zealand dollar.
• Government fees can be paid in cash or by credit card at the Pitcairn Islands Government Treasury on the island.
Prohibited
• Honey and all other bee products, including beeswax products
• Foreign plants and animals (no foreign flora or fauna may be introduced to any of the Pitcairn Islands)
Restricted
• Live bees, used beekeeping equipment and any substance containing a bee product need a written permit from the Island Council. Items brought in without a permit may be seized and destroyed.
• Fruit and seeds brought ashore may be inspected. Items that pose a biosecurity risk may be treated, sent back or destroyed, without compensation.
• Pets and other live animals may not be landed without permission from a biosecurity officer. The government supply ship MV Silver Supporter does not carry pets or other live animals. Contact the Pitcairn Islands Office before planning to travel with a pet.
• Endangered species covered by CITES, including their parts and products, need a licence from the Pitcairn CITES management authority.
• Alcohol may not be sold or supplied to others on the islands without a Commercial Liquor Licence from the Island Council. Only people aged 18 or older may buy or drink alcohol.
