The northern port city of Trieste, gateway to the Balkan route, has unveiled the third edition of its “Capire le migrazioni internazionali” (Understanding International Migration) training programme. Announced on 2 December, the six-session series runs through June 2026 and targets social-service operators, journalists and legal practitioners who work with asylum seekers and mobile populations.
Led by ICS president Gianfranco Schiavone and journalist Fabiana Martini, the course will examine European asylum reforms, Italy’s offshore processing experiment in Albania and best-practice models for community integration. Sessions are held in person at the city’s Press Circle and streamed online, reflecting growing demand for hybrid learning among mobility stakeholders.
Although educational in nature, the initiative has practical implications for employers and relocation providers in Friuli-Venezia Giulia. Graduates often become case-workers who interface with companies on housing letters, language courses and permit renewals. Participation therefore offers HR teams an opportunity to network with local experts and stay ahead of regulatory shifts.
Organisers note that capacity is capped at 60 on-site seats, with remote registration required via an encrypted form. Companies interested in sending staff should apply early, as last year’s edition reached full occupancy within 48 hours.
