      Fiji Visa Policy

If you are a visitor to Fiji, you most likely need a visa issued by a Fijian diplomatic mission unless you are from a visa-exempt country. There are over one hundred countries with visa exempt status, so you want to check them out before to know whether your trip requires a visa or not. Furthermore, the Fijian authorities require all visitors to hold valid passports for a minimum of 6 months for their trip.

      Single & Multiple Entry Visa

Although Fiji issues visas to visitors for different purposes, there are two forms of visas for each category, named single and multiple entry visas. A single entry visa is issued for one visit that lasts no more than a few weeks and is valid for three months. On the other hand, a multiple-entry visa is valid for twelve months or more and allows the holder to visit Fiji several times in a calendar year. Visitors apply for the one that will suit their needs for frequent or singular trips.

Persons that don’t require visas can stay in Fiji for up to 4 months; they are issued visitor permits once they arrive in place of visas which last for 4 months. The permit can also be extended for up to 2 months within the last six months of their arrival. This means that a visa-exempt visitor to Fiji can stay on the Island for up to 6 months.

Key Information About Fiji Visa And Travel Tips

Here is some vital information you should know about Fiji

Single entry/Multiple entry: The duration of stay is not the same as the validity of your visa, and they differ depending on your visa type. Whether you hold a single or multiple entry visa, you are allowed to stay at most the required number of weeks per visit. For instance, if you hold multiple entry visas, you can only stay up to 30 days unless you apply for an extension. The duration allowed must be respected at all times.

Passport: Your passport must be valid for at least 3 months from the time you arrive. Consider getting a new passport if the expiry date will be less than 3 months. Furthermore, note that passport validity is linked to visa validity, so if the former expires, the latter will follow suit.

Local Customs: Fiji is a highly cultural and religious island with several centuries of customs. The people take the culture seriously and demand respect from visitors. They are very friendly but frown and violators. Always respect the Customs of the people at all times.

Vaccination: There isn’t a mandatory vaccine Policy in Fiji, but you may need to protect yourself by taking some shots. Consult your physician for professional advice before embarking on the journey.

Financial sufficiency: The authorities expect you to have all the required funds to cover your treble and living costs on the Island. For embassy applications, you will be required to present a bank statement covering the last three months, while evidence of cash may be demanded at the entry point for arrival visas. The minimum amount per day will be multiplied by the number of days you intend to stay in Fiji, but this figure is not static but changes periodically. Consult the current amount to be sure.

How To Apply For Fiji Visa

There are different ways to apply for a Fijian visa depending on your location, visa type, and trip purpose.

On Arrival: The visa-on-arrival method is only designed for short-term visas, not long term. Visitors from selected countries get it once they arrive in Fiji, but only after completing an application form and paying the required fee for it. Note that visa on arrival is only open to citizens from eligible countries and is for short visits, not long ones.

Foreign Mission: The majority of visas issued by the Fijian government are through their Foreign missions. Applicants applying for short-term visas but not eligible for a visa on arrival can apply through this format. The same is the case for all long-stay visas; they must fill out an application form, attach their documents and submit it to the consulate for processing. Also, a visa fee should be included; otherwise, their application will not be processed. This process takes about 1-3 weeks before the visa will be released.

Note: In countries with no Fiji missions, one can apply through a licensed agent acting as a middleman for the Fijian Foreign Ministry.
