Ethiopia Visa Requirements For Ugandan Citizens

To apply for an e visa, you need to provide the following for your visa application form.

Valid Passport: A valid Ugandan passport is required for this travel document. Only passports that have at least 6 months of validity will be accepted by the Ugandan authorities. Also, note that passport validity starts counting from the date of entry, not the date the application is submitted or when the e visa is approved.

Photo: A recent passport sized photograph. The photo must be older than 6 months and must clearly show your facial features clearly. Photos must also have a white background, and head coverings or spectacles are not allowed.

Personal Information: You should also provide your personal information, such as your full name, date of birth, city of birth, citizenship, and gender. The form also has fields for your Ugandan passport information, like the passport number, date of issue, expiry date, and country of issue.

Applicants are advised to provide accurate information that corresponds with the information on their documents. Inconsistencies may lead to application rejection or issues at the airport with immigration officers.

Successful applicants are also advised to print out the e-visa and bring a copy along with them to Ethiopia. They will also be asked to provide a certificate for Yellow Fever vaccination.

Approval Duration

This visa takes about 24 hours to be approved as long as the documents and information you provide are valid. In peak periods, the approval may take two extra days, but this rarely happens.

This visa is not a work visa, so you are not allowed to engage in any form of paid work during your stay in Ethiopia. Furthermore, overstaying is viewed as a violation, and you will be asked to pay a fine before leaving the country. Offenders who fail to pay the fine may face imprisonment.
