NextGen Payments & RegTech Forum draws global compliance travellers to Limassol

NextGen Payments & RegTech Forum draws global compliance travellers to Limassol
Corporate mobility managers should note that the 22nd NextGen Payments & RegTech Forum kicked off in Limassol on 6 November, bringing senior executives from multinational banks, fintechs, Big 4 consultancies and supervisory authorities to Cyprus for a one-day deep dive into payments innovation and regulatory change. The event, hosted at the Four Seasons Hotel, is organised by QUBE Events and positions Cyprus as an emerging hub for financial-services conferencing in the eastern Mediterranean.

Speakers from the European Banking Authority, the Central Bank of Cyprus, Visa, Stripe and Amazon Web Services dissected topics ranging from instant payments and cross-border open-banking standards to travel rule compliance for crypto assets. With PSD3 and the EU’s AI Act on the horizon, many sessions focused on how regulated institutions can embed artificial-intelligence tools in KYC and sanctions-screening workflows without falling foul of privacy rules.

From a mobility perspective, the forum has attracted over 400 delegates from 35 countries, filling hotels along Limassol’s seafront and generating brisk demand for short-term business visas. Event organisers coordinated with Cyprus’ Civil Registry and Migration Department to offer an accelerated invitation-letter process, cutting the typical visa-support turnaround from ten to five working days.

Travel-risk teams should be aware that airport transfers on 7 November may be congested as delegates depart en masse for Larnaca and Paphos airports. Companies sending staff should ensure Schengen-compliant biometric data are ready, as Cyprus consulates have required fingerprints for all visa applicants aged 12 and above since October.

The success of the forum reinforces Cyprus’ strategy to attract high-value conferences that extend the tourist season and encourage long-haul carriers to maintain winter frequencies. Mobility professionals can expect a steady calendar of niche industry events in 2026, with organisers citing favourable tax incentives and English-speaking talent as decisive factors.
