Hong Kong International Airport unveiled its fully automated ‘Park & Fly’ car park inside the restricted zone of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge port on 5 November 2025, a week before the facility’s official opening on 15 November. More than 400 Guangdong-registered motorists have already secured spaces that let them drop vehicles, clear outbound immigration and reach airport check-in counters within 30 minutes.

The five-storey structure offers 1,800 robot-managed parking bays and forms a centrepiece of the ‘Southbound Travel for Guangdong Vehicles’ scheme that allows quota-free private-car access from the mainland into the bridge’s Hong Kong Port. Drivers hand over vehicles at an intake bay; automated pallets then park the cars, while travellers board dedicated shuttles to Terminal 1.

Airport Authority executives said the service shortens multimodal journeys between the Greater Bay Area (GBA) and long-haul flights, making Hong Kong more attractive as an international gateway. Early adopters include technology exporters from Shenzhen and Zhuhai who value same-day access to European and North-American departures.

From a mobility-management perspective, the product removes a pain-point for cross-border assignments—namely the lack of secure parking and predictable transfer times. The Authority plans to extend the model to commercial vehicles once data prove that automation can handle peak holiday volumes.

The facility also supports Beijing’s aim of integrating transport networks across the GBA, complementing the National Immigration Administration’s expansion on the same day of fast-track facial-recognition lanes at neighbouring checkpoints.
