Roadpol announces 17-23 November ‘Truck & Bus’ week: Italian police to intensify roadside checks on cross-border freight and coach services
On 4 November the transport trade body Confartigianato Verona relayed a Roadpol notice confirming that from 17 to 23 November all European traffic-police forces will stage a coordinated ‘Truck & Bus’ enforcement operation. Italian Stradale units will set up mobile teams along major logistics corridors such as the Brenner and Ventimiglia corridors as well as key port approaches.

Inspections will target tachograph manipulation, overweight loads, ADR dangerous-goods compliance and driver rest periods. Non-compliant operators risk on-the-spot fines up to €1,732, vehicle immobilisation and—where cabotage rules are breached—expulsion from Italian territory for up to three months.

The blitz comes as e-commerce peak season strains capacity; industry group ANITA says international hauliers already report 94 % trailer utilisation. For corporates running time-sensitive supply chains the advice is clear: build in buffer days and ensure drivers carry full documentation, including attestations for posted-worker declarations introduced last July.

Coach operators moving corporate groups or expatriate families should note that random passenger-manifest checks are also planned—any discrepancies could trigger delays. Mobility teams arranging household-goods shipments should alert carriers to the campaign and confirm that transit insurance remains valid during potential layovers.

Although the operation is Europe-wide, Italy tends to issue more citations: during the February 2025 edition, 21 % of all EU infringements were recorded on Italian roads. The Ministry of Interior says results from this round will feed into a legislative proposal to toughen penalties for repeated offences.
