Eurowings Adds Second Daily Dubai Flight and Debuts Berlin–Abu Dhabi Service

Lufthansa’s low-cost subsidiary Eurowings is turning Berlin Brandenburg (BER) into Germany’s newest long-haul gateway to the Gulf. Starting 4 November, the carrier increases its Berlin–Dubai schedule from seven to eleven weekly rotations and, for the first time, links the German capital with Abu Dhabi three times a week (beginning 3 November).

Why this matters. For corporate mobility planners, the upgrade means same-day connections from eastern Germany to key energy and tech hubs in the UAE without detouring through Frankfurt or Munich. The extra DXB frequencies create morning and evening departure pairs, easing duty-trip itineraries that hinge on tight customer-meeting windows.

Market context. BER has struggled to secure intercontinental traffic since opening in 2020. Eurowings’ move fills a white spot after Etihad and Emirates postponed plans for their own Berlin services amid slot constraints. The UAE-Germany bilateral air-services agreement allows unlimited flights by “EU open-skies” carriers, giving Eurowings a head start before Gulf rivals enter.

Implications for assignees. The Berlin–Abu Dhabi route simplifies relocations for German engineers working on Masdar City and ADNOC hydrogen projects, cutting travel time by up to four hours compared with routing via Doha. Travel stipends may fall as round-trip fares are 15–20 percent lower than comparable FRA or MUC departures.

Next steps. Mobility teams should add the new flight numbers (EW 7080/81 for AUH; EW 9030-9034 for additional DXB runs) to preferred-carrier lists and verify that travel-security providers update meet-and-assist options at AUH’s Midfield Terminal. Eurowings plans to switch the DXB service from A321XLR equipment to A330-200 once deliveries resume in March 2026, potentially opening a premium-economy cabin attractive to cost-conscious assignees.
