Clocks go back: Italy returns to Standard Time in early hours of 26 October
At 03:00 local time on Sunday 26 October 2025, Italy reverted from Central European Summer Time (UTC +2) to Central European Time (UTC +1). The one-hour shift marks the end of daylight-saving time across the EU, giving travellers an extra hour in bed but requiring timetable adjustments for early-morning flights and train services.

Airports and rail operators automatically publish schedules in local time, but travellers using international connection tools should ensure devices refresh to CET to avoid missed departures. Airlines flying during the change – notably cargo flights departing between 02:00 and 03:30 – file two distinct flight numbers to avoid slot conflicts.

The time change also affects teleworking expatriates liaising with colleagues outside Europe: from 26 October until North America ends daylight saving on 2 November, the US East Coast is five hours behind Italy instead of six.

Despite a 2018 European Parliament vote to scrap seasonal clock changes, member states have yet to agree on a unified alternative, so corporate travel policies must continue to factor in bi-annual adjustments.
