• Personal belongings of travelers (clothing, personal jewelry, one camera, one portable computer or tablet, one musical instrument, sports and camping equipment, a baby stroller or wheelchair and similar items) in quantities fitting personal use.
• For travelers aged 18 or older: 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars or 250 g of tobacco, or a mix of these not exceeding 250 g.
• For travelers aged 18 or older: 2 L of wine and 1 L of spirits.
• 250 ml of eau de toilette and 50 g of perfume.
• Medicines in quantities matching your personal needs.
• Other goods of a non-commercial nature worth up to CVE 15,000 in total. Non-commercial goods worth up to CVE 100,000 and weighing up to 150 kg can be cleared at the airport or port under a simplified procedure with a single 30% charge.
Currency
• Local (Cape Verdean escudo, CVE) and foreign currency may be brought in.
• Cash, bearer instruments and other means of payment worth CVE 1,000,000 or more (or the equivalent in foreign currency) must be declared in writing on arrival. Keep the declaration authenticated by customs: you may need it to take more than the equivalent of CVE 1,000,000 out of the country. Undeclared amounts may be seized.
• Gold coins or bars worth CVE 500,000 or more must be declared to customs.

• Firearms and ammunition: private individuals may import sporting or hunting weapons and ammunition only with prior authorization from the Director of the National Police.
• Meat, dairy products, eggs, honey and other products of animal origin need a prior sanitary authorization from the veterinary authority and an international health certificate.
• Endangered animal and plant species and products made from them need CITES permits.
• Up to 4 pet cats, dogs or ferrets traveling with you must have an international veterinary health certificate. Pets coming from countries where rabies is present must be microchipped, vaccinated against rabies and have a rabies antibody test result of at least 0.5 IU/ml taken 3 to 12 months before travel. Cabo Verde embassies also ask for a rabies vaccination given at least 30 days before arrival, vaccination against distemper, parvovirus, leptospirosis and infectious hepatitis, and internal and external deworming. Check the conditions with the General Directorate of Agriculture, Forestry and Livestock (DGASP) before you travel.
• More than 5 pets (treated as a commercial import), and wild or exotic animals, need a prior sanitary import authorization from the veterinary authority.
• Goods above the duty-free allowances must be declared to customs (red channel).
