Travelers planning a trip to Ukraine for business who are not Ukrainian citizens require a Ukraine business visa. However, there are a few exemptions. One notable exemption is the visa waiver granted to citizens of some countries who are allowed to enter the country with just their passports. Keep reading to learn more about the Ukraine business visa or the Ukraine tourist visa.

Visa For Ukraine Business Visits

Travelers planning business visits to Ukraine require a business visa unless they are from a visa-exempt country. The government of Ukraine categorizes travelers into two different classes. Travelers from visa exempt countries and those from visa required countries. Under the first category, citizens from such countries don't need a visa to enter Ukraine, and many EU countries, including the UK and Canada, fall under this category.

The second one is the travelers who are not from visa exempt countries. Those from such countries must show a visa at the airport to be allowed to enter Ukraine.

Visa-exempt foreign nationals can enter Ukraine and stay without a visa for up to 90 days; their travel permit is valid for only 180 days. Those from non-visa-exempt countries will either have to apply for a single entry business visa online or apply to the Ukrainian embassy in their home countries.

Ukraine Business Visa Documentary Requirements

Letter Of Invitation: The applicant must provide a letter of invitation issued to them by the inviting organization or company. The invitation letter must be on the company's letterhead and show their Unified State Registry number. It must also show other vital details about your trip and why you are coming to Ukraine.

Sponsor Letter: A Letter issued by the sponsor or employer guaranteeing that they will cover your bills while you are in the country.

Passport: Your passport is required: It should have at least 6 months left before expiration with two blank pages.

How To Apply For A Ukraine Business Visa Online?

Many applicants who wish to visit Ukraine for a short time don't have to visit the Ukrainian embassy in their home countries. They can simply apply for an online business visa approved by the ministry of foreign affairs.

Here are the steps to take.

Complete The Application Form

The first step is to complete the online application form. You will be asked to provide details like your full name, the purpose of travel, nationality, and other information including a valid passport. For long visits, you will be provided with a shortlist of consulates or offices you should visit.

Print The Form

After completing the form, you can print it out and submit it later.

Gather and Upload Your Documents

It is best to gather your documents in one place before you commence the registration process. Endeavor to upload the right documents in the right field. This should be easy since it only involves scanning.

Pay The Visa Fee

The business e visa fees will enable the authorities to process your visa application. How you apply for the business visa will determine how you pay the visa fee. You can pay cash over the counter for embassy applications, but for online applications, you need a debit or credit card with sufficient funds.

Submit Your Application

After completing the visa application form and attaching your documents,  submit the form at the embassy or online, depending on the application method.

Note: It is important to note that your nationality may determine the application method you use. While online applications are allowed for some nationals, others may have to apply for the visa in person by visiting the embassy office.

Where And When To Apply For a Ukraine Business Visa

If you want to apply for a Ukraine business visa, submit your application at least 10 days before your planned trip but not more than 3 months before the day. This will create ample time for your application to be processed. You can apply for a business visa in person by submitting your application form at Ukrainian embassies or Consulates abroad or visa application centers.

For online applicants, they can apply for short-term business visas on trusted platforms like VisaHQ.

Emergency visas may also be issued at international airports in Ukraine.

Business Visas Are Not Transferable

Ukraine business visas are not transferable, so one applicant cannot give out their visa to another to enter Ukraine. Furthermore, minors do not qualify for business visas, only adults 18 years and above. If you wish to visit Ukraine with your minor, you will need a different visa, like a tourist visa, and even that requires your attention as minors are not qualified to apply for any kind of visa on their own.

Applying for an online Ukraine business visa is easy on VisaHQ. Simply log onto the platform to complete the application process.

Ukraine Visa Policy

According to the visa policy of the Ukrainian government, visitors must get a visa from a consulate or online if they wish to visit the country unless they are from a visa-exempt country. This policy segments foreign nationals into different categories with varying benefits and application requirements. For instance, holders of passports and national ID cards, in some cases, are allowed to enter and stay in Ukraine without visas for different periods. Others are required to provide additional documents and proof of funds before they can be allowed into the country with or without visas based on their nationality.

There is also a visa waiver program for citizens of Mongolia but they are yet to be ratified.

Diplomatic and Service passport holders from the following countries do not need visas for Ukraine for short visits.

Visitors that qualify for visa free entry are only allowed into the country for the purpose of tourism, business or if they are international travelers passing through Ukraine for another country.

Ukraine Visa On Arrival

The visa on arrival has yet to be in place, as it was terminated in January 2019. Such visas were previously issued at the Kyiv International Airport, Odesa International Airport, and Kyive Boryspil Airport for visits of up to 15 days, but it has been replaced with an electronic visa.

Ukraine Electronic Visa

The electronic visa of Ukraine was launched on the 4th of April 2018 for business, transit, and tourism purposes for 30 days per visit. This visa program was further expanded more than a year later to cover medical treatments, education, science, culture, and sports for foreign correspondents working for foreign media representatives. E visas are issued as single-entry travel documents and take three working days to process.

To qualify for this visa you must be from an eligible country. You must also complete an online application form and upload soft copies of your passport and any other visa required. Once the visa is approved, it will be forwarded to your email.  Endeavor to print it out and travel with a copy to Ukraine as the Immigration officers in duty will request for it. After close examination, they will stamp your passport any let you in.

Note: The e-Visa program has been suspended for now due to the Russo – Ukrainian War.

Key Information About Ukraine e Visa

Here are some things to bear in mind when applying for a Ukrainian visa

Please obey the rules: It is very important to obey the local rules and regulations during your time in the country. Only engage in activities permitted by your visa, and do not stay beyond the days allowed. If your visa allows you to stay for 30 days, do not stay for 31 days, as the extra one day is a violation.

Use Approved Routes: Always enter Ukraine through approved airports and seaports. If you decide to use a different route, you may be prevented from entry.

Use The Same Passport: Your e visa is linked to your passport so make sure you travel with the same passport you used for the application

If you bring a different passport you will be denied entry because it will be assumed you don’t have a visa.

It Is Not For Residency:  Bear in mind that the online visa is not a long stay visa for residency but for short visits. Studying or working in Ukraine with an e visa is prohibited because it is only designed for tourism, transit and business.  If you have any reason to stay for more than 30 days you must apply for a consular visa instead.

Non Transferrable: This online visa is not transferable so two people cannot use the same visa.  There isn’t a group e visa for tourism but each person must apply for their own visa in advance of their trip. Minors also need their own online visas which their parents or guardians can apply for. Parents must bring civil status certificates along like a birth certificate to prove parental relationship while guardians must bring a notarized parental consent letter proving that the child’s parents approve of the trip.

Extension: If you must apply for an extension of your visa you should do so before your current visa expires. Persons who apply for extensions after their visa expires may not have it granted because they would be living in the country illegally even if it is for a few days. Consider applying for extension at least a week before your visa expires. This will give the authorities ample time to process your application.

Letters Should Be Signed: Whether it is a letter of invitation from your host, a cover letter explaining your purpose, or a letter from your employer, all letters must be signed and dated. Furthermore, they should contain relevant information about your trip to validate whatever information you give the authorities in case you are asked.
