Types Of Bahrain Business Visas

Traditional Business Visa

Ordinary and official passport holders traveling to the Kingdom of Bahrain for business activities can apply for a traditional paper or stamp visa. To get this travel document, you must visit the Bahrain embassy and submit your visa application form in person. This process can take even an entire day!

Electronic Business Visa

Alternatively, foreign citizens can also apply for a Bahrain business e-visa. An e-visa system is designed to make the visa application process simple and fast. Bahrain offers the following visas under the e-visa category:

Single-Entry - This visa type allows a holder to stay in the country for 14 consecutive days within a 30-day period.
Multiple-Entry (30 Days) - This visa variation allows a holder to enter Bahrain multiple times within a 30-day period. It allows you to stay in the country for 30 days as well!
Multiple-Entry (90 Days) - Applicants can also apply for a long-term electronic visa for multiple entries. This one comes with a validity period of 12 months and allows you to stay in the country for 90 consecutive days.

How To Apply For Bahrain Business Visa?

As their different types of Bahrain business visas available out there, the application process varies as well. To get a traditional visa, applicants must visit the Bahrain embassy or consulate office. You'll also need to schedule an appointment for a visa interview with a consular officer.

Processing Time

The average processing time for a traditional Bahrain visa is 15-30 business days. However, if you apply for an e-visa, you can get your travel document within 5 business days. Visa Policy of Bahrain

Bahrain has an updated visa policy guided by its (Immigration & Residence) Act 1965. This law stipulates that foreigners coming to Bahrain must hold valid visas unless they are from a visa-on-arrival or visa-exempt country. Visitors from visa-on-arrival countries can travel to Bahrain without visas but will be issued visas at the port of entry before they are allowed in, while vise exempt visitors don't need visas to enter Bahrain. Travelers in both categories must have a valid passport that will remain valid beyond their departure dates and an onward or return flight ticket.

Another law that regulates the visa policy of the Kingdom of Bahrain is the Nationality Law. This law is important because it clearly defines who a Bahraini citizen is. The Nationality Law of 1963 did not recognize dual citizenship, so persons with Bahraini mothers or those who renounced their citizenship were not considered citizens. However, this law was updated in 2016 to allow dual nationality under strict guidelines. Furthermore, the King of Bahrain was granted discretionary powers to grant citizenship to persons not qualified under normal law.

Furthermore, the Immigration and Residence Act of 1964 formed the backbone of the new visa policy implemented in 2014, which allowed travelers from visa-free countries to apply for e-visas online before arriving in Bahrain. In light of this new policy, many more visas have been issued online than ever in the country's history. Then in 2016, Bahrain adopted a new policy of single and multiple entry visas that allowed eligible visitors up to 2 weeks – 90 days for single and multiple entry online visas.

Lastly, the visa policy of Bahrain does not require a visa from citizens of fellow Gulf Cooperation Council countries. Citizens from GCC countries may enter the Kingdom of Bahrain using valid national ID cards. The GCC countries are
