• Personal belongings needed for your trip.
• Goods for personal use or as gifts, not intended for commercial use, up to EUR 430 per traveler arriving by air or sea, EUR 300 per traveler arriving by other means of transport, and EUR 150 for travelers under 15. The value of one item may not be split between travelers. Tobacco and alcohol within the limits below are not counted in these amounts.
• For travelers aged 17 or older arriving by air: 200 cigarettes or 100 cigarillos (up to 3 g each) or 50 cigars or 250 g of smoking tobacco.
• For travelers aged 17 or older arriving by other means of transport: 40 cigarettes or 20 cigarillos or 10 cigars or 50 g of smoking tobacco.
• For travelers aged 17 or older (all means of transport): 1 L of spirits over 22% alcohol, or 2 L of alcoholic beverages up to 22% alcohol, plus 4 L of still wine and 2 L of beer.
Currency
• Cash in euros or other currencies up to EUR 10,000 (or the equivalent) may be brought in without declaring it.
• Cash, cheques, bearer securities, precious metals and precious stones worth EUR 10,000 or more must be declared to customs on arrival on the declaration form, together with documents showing where the money comes from. Keep the certified declaration: without it the money could be seized when you leave.
• Failure to declare is fined (EUR 550 to 2,000 for individuals), and undeclared cash may be held if its origin is suspicious.
Prohibited
• Illegal drugs, including cannabis
• Meat, milk and products containing them, except powdered baby milk, baby food and special foods or pet food needed for medical reasons
Restricted
• Medicines: you may bring a reasonable amount of medicines for personal use for up to 6 months. Prescription medicines containing narcotics must be declared to customs on arrival, are limited to a 30-day supply and must come with a prescription or doctor's certificate issued less than 90 days before travel.
• Pets (dogs, cats, ferrets): up to 5 pets may travel with their owner. Each pet needs a microchip (or readable tattoo), a valid rabies vaccination given at 12 weeks of age or older and at least 21 days before travel, and an EU pet passport or the Montenegro veterinary health certificate issued within 10 days of arrival. Pets from countries not on the EU approved (Annex II) list also need a rabies antibody (titer) test taken at least 30 days after vaccination and 3 months before travel.
• Valuable items such as expensive jewelry and photographic or computer equipment, goods above the duty-free limits and goods for commercial use must be declared to customs.
