Ivory Coast e Visa For Tourism

The tourist e-visa is a special visa for short-term tourists coming to Ivory Coast. This e-visa is a multiple-entry visa, meaning you can use it to enter the country several times. The visa is valid for 90 days, but you can only stay for 30 days. Tourism e-visas can be used for holidays, family visits, tours, and any social event you can think of. You can also use it to attend cultural or sporting events in the country.

To apply successfully, your passport must have at least a minimum of six months of validity beyond the arrival date and at least one empty page for visa stamps. The authorities will also request proof of accommodation which may be a hotel reservation or a house address in the country. These documents are necessary for your application to be successful. Also important to note is that the e-visa application will only be approved online, so you must arrive at Port Bouet Airport to pick up the physical copy.

Ivory Coast Visa Policy

Ivory Coast has a visa policy that clarifies the basic requirements for any foreign national entering the country. Based on the immigration laws of the West African nation, any visitors coming to the country must obtain a visa first; otherwise, they will not be allowed entry. Only visitors from visa-exempt countries may enter Ivory Coast without visas for short-term visits. Furthermore, the visitor must hold a passport that will remain valid for at least 6 months from the day they gave chosen to enter the country.

Ivory Coast Visa-Free Countries

Ivory Coast keeps an updated list of visa free countries and most of them are member states of the Economic Community of West African States. Apart from these West African countries, there are a few other non African countries on the list whose citizens can visit the country without visas.  Visa free visitors can stay in the Ivory Coast for up to 90 days visa free provided they do not engage in any economic activity. Visitors are only allowed into the country for tourism, business or as transit visitors.

Ivory Coast e Visa

Visitors who are not nationals of any visa-free country must apply for a consular visa at the embassy or consulate nearest to them, or they can simply apply for an e-visa. The Ivorian e-visa is valid for 90 days and takes about 48 hours or less. To get the e-visa, you must fill out the application form, attach the required documents depending on the type of e-visa you choose, and submit it online. Once your visa is approved and you travel to Ivory Coast and arrive at Port Bouet Airport, Abidjan, a physical copy of the e-visa will be generated and issued to you, and your passport will be stamped for entry.

Kindly note that the electronic visa of the Ivory Coast is only issued to visitors who hold valid passports from selected countries.  These countries are determined by the Ivorian Ministry of Foreign Affairs using diplomatic parameters as determined by the government's policy.

If you are not from any of the eligible countries, you can still enter the Ivory Coast but you will have to apply for a consular visa. Kindly visit the embassy or consulate in your country and submit a physical application for any visa of your choice.

Ivory Coast e Visa Eligibility

Only applicants that meet the following criteria will be issued an e visa

  • They must come from an eligible country on the Eligibility list
  • They must have a valid passport issued by their home government
  • They must not seek permanent residency in Ivory Coast
  • They must not seek employment in Ivory Coast
  • They must show proof of funds to cover their expenses
  • They must be law abiding and not constitute public nuisance or pose a threat to the territorial integrity of the country

Key Information About The Ivory Coast e Visa

Before you submit your application for the Ivorian online visa, there is some important information that you must be aware of.

Valid Insurance: It is advisable to travel with valid insurance that will cover the full duration of your time in the Ivory Coast. This insurance will cover health emergencies in case you fall ill or get injured, and any insurance policy by a reputable international insurance company will suffice.

Use The Right Route: You can only get your e-visa copy at the Port Bouet Airport in Abidjan, and Online visas are not recognized or validated at any other airport in the country.

Travel With A Printed Copy: If your application is approved, an electronic confirmation copy will be forwarded to your inbox. It is important to bring a printed copy of this confirmation to Port Bouet Airport as the immigration authorities will request it in order to process your hard copy e-visa.

Travel With The Same Passport: Make sure you travel with the same passport you used for the confirmation, not a different passport. You must arrive with a different passport to be allowed into the country.

Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate: If you are from a yellow fever- vulnerable country, a vaccination certificate will be required to prove that you have received a yellow fever vaccine.

Enrollment is Mandatory: All travelers aged 12 and above must enroll for an e-Visa even if they have visited the country before. Furthermore, two persons cannot share the same e-visa as it is one visa to one visitor.

Fee Payment: The application fee must be paid before you can submit the form for processing. Fees are paid using credit or debit cards and they are not refundable.

Don’t Work With This Visa: Ivory Coast has very strict laws when it comes to immigration, and temporary visitors who enter the country with this visa are not allowed to work. The online visa is only for tourism, transit, and business. Working with it is a violation that can lead to fines and sanctions from the authorities.

Don’t overstay: Remember that online visas only allow you to stay for 30 days per visit. While you can visit several times within a 90-day period, you are not allowed to stay for more than a month per visit. If, for any reason, you suspect that you will stay longer, visit the immigration office near you to apply for an extension long before your visa expires. Applying for an extension after your current visa expires is not allowed.
