Free import
• Personal effects and gifts carried by the traveler, worth up to 3,000 Saudi riyals in total (or the equivalent in Kuwaiti dinars), if they are for personal use and not in commercial quantities.
• Up to 400 cigarettes are included in this exemption.
• The exemption does not apply to frequent travelers or to people who trade in the goods they carry. Exempt goods are still subject to Kuwait's import bans and restrictions.
• Personal luggage is exempt from customs duties.
Currency
• Cash and bearer negotiable instruments (such as traveler's cheques) worth KWD 3,000 or more (or the equivalent in foreign currency) must be disclosed to Kuwait Customs on arrival, online through the customs electronic disclosure service or in person. Keep the certified declaration you receive: without it, the money could be seized when you leave.
• Customs may ask where the money comes from and what it will be used for. Undisclosed or falsely disclosed cash can be seized, and the offence is punishable by up to one year in prison and a fine of up to the full amount.

• Weapons and ammunition need a permit from the Kuwaiti authorities before import.
• Many commonly prescribed medicines need permission from the Kuwaiti authorities before you arrive. Carry the prescription and check with the Kuwaiti embassy before you travel.
• Dogs and cats need a veterinary health certificate issued by a licensed veterinarian within 30 days before arrival, and a rabies vaccination given at least 30 days and no more than 1 year before arrival. For other pets, check the requirements with the Kuwaiti authorities before travel.
• Declare anything that may be prohibited or subject to duty or tax. Failure to declare can lead to imprisonment, refusal of entry and deportation.
