Free import
• Personal items that are clearly for your own use during the trip: clothing, toiletries, jewellery, medicines, books, magazines and printed documents, and the bags that carry them.
• Portable electronics for personal use: 2 mobile phones for travelers over 18 (1 for travelers over 7), 1 laptop, 1 tablet, 1 video camera, 2 photo cameras, 1 video game console, 1 portable music player or radio, 1 calculator, 2 hair appliances and 1 electric shaver (laptop, video camera and shaver only for travelers over 7).
• Data storage: 20 CDs, 10 DVDs or video game discs, 2 external hard drives, 4 USB memory sticks and 4 memory cards (memory cards only if you carry the matching device).
• For travelers over 18: 20 packs of cigarettes or 50 cigars or 250 g of cut or loose smoking tobacco, and up to 3 L of alcoholic drinks.
• 1 portable musical instrument and 1 item or set of sports equipment.
• Other goods for personal use and gifts, not intended for sale, with a combined value of up to USD 500.
• Wheelchairs, crutches and medical monitoring equipment carried by travelers with a disability or illness.
• These allowances apply per trip and per person and cannot be transferred to another traveler.
• Goods above these allowances, up to USD 1,000 per trip (maximum USD 3,000 per calendar year), pay a single 12% tax on their customs value; higher amounts pay the normal import taxes. Declare them on the Customs Baggage Declaration (Declaración Jurada de Equipaje) and use the red channel. You can also file the declaration in the SUNAT app "Bienvenido al Perú" up to 2 days before travel.
Currency
• You may bring in Peruvian soles and foreign currency up to a total of USD 30,000 (or the equivalent in other currencies).
• Cash and bearer negotiable instruments (for example traveler's checks) worth more than USD 10,000 or the equivalent must be declared to SUNAT on arrival.
• Bringing in more than USD 30,000 in cash or bearer negotiable instruments is not allowed.
• Failure to declare, or a false declaration, leads to temporary seizure of the whole amount and a fine of 30% of the undeclared value.

• Used clothing and footwear that do not belong to the traveler

• Pork and pork products of any kind (to keep Peru free of African swine fever)

• Firearms and ammunition are not treated as baggage and need an import authorization from SUCAMEC, the national firearms control authority, before travel.
• Food of animal origin must be declared to SENASA at the airport. Without an import permit you may bring only packaged and labelled products from countries without animal-health restrictions: pasteurized dairy products up to 5 kg (or a single cheese of up to 10 kg), sausages up to 10 kg, canned ready meals up to 2 kg and honey, royal jelly or pollen up to 1 kg (sausages and canned meals may not contain pork). Food served on the plane may not be taken off it.
• Plant products: up to 1 kg each of industrially dried herbs, dried flowers, dried fruit and vegetables, ground spices, fresh or dried edible mushrooms, flour and grains may be brought in without a permit. Fresh fruit and flowers, naturally dried produce, plants, seeds, wood and live insects need prior SENASA authorization.
• Wild plants and animals and their products (including CITES-listed species) need authorization from the competent authority.
• Items of historical, archaeological, artistic or cultural interest need authorization from the Ministry of Culture.
• Medical and dental equipment needs authorization from the competent authority.
• Pets (dogs and cats): 1 pet enters duty-free. It needs an original export health certificate from the official veterinary authority of the country of origin showing current vaccinations (rabies for all pets over 3 months; dogs also parvovirus, distemper, hepatitis and leptospirosis; cats also panleukopenia), internal and external deworming within 15 days before travel and good health. SENASA inspects the pet at the airport or border post on arrival, for a fee.
• Professional tools and equipment brought in for work may be imported temporarily for up to 12 months with a temporary entry declaration and a guarantee equal to the import taxes.
