• Personal belongings in small quantities and not for commercial use, worth up to AOA 1,000,000 per traveler.
• For travelers aged 18 or older: 1 L of spirits and 2 L of wine.
• For travelers aged 18 or older: 200 cigarettes or 250 g of tobacco or 50 cigars, or a mix of these weighing no more than 500 g in total.
• For travelers aged 18 or older: 100 ml of eau de toilette and 100 ml of perfume.
• Personal goods worth more than AOA 1,000,000 and up to AOA 1,500,000 are generally charged a flat 16% duty. Goods worth more than AOA 1,500,000, and alcohol, tobacco and perfume above the amounts listed, are taxed at the standard customs rates.
Currency
• Cash and bearer payment instruments in kwanzas or foreign currency worth USD 10,000 or more in total must be declared to customs on arrival, using the customs declaration form.
• Customs keeps the original form and gives you a copy. Keep it: non-residents must show it to take USD 10,000 or more out of Angola.
Prohibited
• Narcotics and psychotropic substances, and the khat plant (Catha edulis)
• Counterfeit and pirated goods
• Spirits containing harmful substances such as absinthe
• Home-made drinks and medicines
• Medicines and food harmful to health, and food in poor condition
• Animals and animal products from areas with animal disease outbreaks
• Plants and plant parts from areas affected by plant diseases or pests
• Subversive propaganda that incites violence or social unrest (books, CDs, DVDs, leaflets, clothing and similar items)
• Endangered wild animals and plants and products made from them (CITES)
• Right-hand-drive motor vehicles
Restricted
The following goods may be imported only with prior authorization from the competent Angolan authority:
• Dogs, cats and other pets: an import permit from the Angolan veterinary services (issued 14 to 21 days before arrival), plus a veterinary health certificate and a rabies vaccination certificate, both issued no more than 4 months before arrival. The rabies vaccination must have been given less than one year before arrival; otherwise the pet needs a veterinary examination. Pets traveling with their owner may be handed over before the inspection if the owner keeps them in quarantine until it takes place.
• Other live animals and animal products (authorization from the Angolan veterinary services), fish and seafood
• Plants, flowers, bulbs, fruit and seeds for sale or planting
• Medicines and pharmaceutical products
• Firearms, ammunition, explosives and fireworks
• Rough, polished or cut diamonds
• Drones, and items with built-in cameras, microphones or recorders (for example in glasses, pens, watches or clothing)
• Radio transmitters and receivers, except telephones
• Military or police-style uniforms, boots, tents, camouflage or bulletproof material and similar gear
• Gambling equipment
• Pure denatured alcohol
• Fiscal and postal stamps
