UAE Foreign Ministry Issues Travel Advisory as Regional Tensions Escalate

UAE Foreign Ministry Issues Travel Advisory as Regional Tensions Escalate
On 29 October the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs published an urgent travel advisory urging Emirati citizens and residents to exercise extreme caution when travelling to Israel, Iran, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and Jordan amid intensifying military exchanges between Israel and Iran. The notice, disseminated via social media and the ‘Twajudi’ consular-registration platform, recommends travellers stay in close contact with airlines and register itineraries with UAE missions abroad for rapid assistance if required.

The advisory follows the closure of Ben Gurion Airport and a wave of flight cancellations by Emirates, Etihad and several European carriers. Etihad confirmed all Abu Dhabi–Tel Aviv services are suspended until further notice, while Emirates has halted operations to Baghdad, Amman, Beirut and Tehran.

For multinational companies with regional offices managed from Dubai, the guidance triggers heightened duty-of-care obligations. HR teams should verify staff locations, review evacuation protocols and consider temporary remote-work arrangements. Insurers may also adjust premium rates or exclusions for high-risk destinations listed in the advisory.

The travel warning does not restrict inbound travel to the UAE, but travellers transiting through Dubai or Abu Dhabi to affected destinations should expect re-routing and limited seat availability. Corporate travel buyers are advised to book flexible fares and monitor real-time NOTAMs (Notices to Airmen) for additional airspace closures.

Analysts note that previous advisories have preceded more formal flight bans, so contingency planning—especially for essential engineering or diplomatic trips—should begin immediately.
