Crane dismantling snarls road access to Prague Airport through 26 October
Travellers heading to Prague Airport this weekend should brace for detours and heavier-than-usual traffic. From 21–26 October, a 70-tonne tower crane in front of Terminal 1 is being dismantled as part of the terminal-modernisation project. Road II—which serves the departures curb—is closed entirely, while segments of Road I have single-lane operation. Taxi, ride-hail and hotel-shuttle stops have been temporarily relocated to the ground-transport centre near Parking C, adding up to ten minutes’ walk for departing passengers.

Airport authorities recommend arriving three hours before long-haul flights and two hours before intra-Schengen services, not only because of the construction but also due to longer border-control times under the new EES regime. Bus lines 119 and AE are operating on modified timetables, and private-car drop-offs are advised to use the P5 short-stay lot, which remains accessible from Aviatická Street.

For mobility professionals coordinating group moves or fly-in project teams, the combination of road closures and EES queues could result in missed flights. Consider shifting pick-ups to Terminal 2 or booking the direct Airport Express train from Prague Main Station, which is running at 20-minute intervals during the works.
