Free import
• Gifts worth up to OMR 300 in total.
• Electronic goods and household appliances in non-commercial quantities.
• Up to 400 cigarettes.
• Non-Muslim travelers only: up to 2 L of wine or spirits and 48 cans of beer. Muslims may not bring in alcohol.
• Personal items such as clothing, personal jewellery, medicines for personal use, a mobile phone, a laptop and portable printer, a video camera, portable musical instruments, personal sports equipment, strollers and wheelchairs are exempt from customs duty.
• The exemption applies only to goods of a personal nature in non-commercial quantities, and not to travelers who cross the border frequently. Exempt goods are still subject to import bans and restrictions.
Currency
• There is no limit on the amount of money you may bring in, but cash, bearer negotiable instruments (such as traveler's cheques), precious metals and gemstones worth OMR 6,000 or more (or the equivalent in other currencies) must be declared to customs. The declaration can be made online before travel.
• Customs may ask where the money comes from and what it will be used for. Failing to declare, or declaring falsely, can lead to the money being held and to criminal penalties.

• Narcotics and illegal drugs, even in residual amounts
• E-cigarettes and vaping products
• Pornographic material
• Counterfeit goods and goods that infringe intellectual property rights
• Dogs of the following breeds and their mixes: Pit Bull, Staffordshire Terrier, American Bully, Mastiff, Fila Brasileiro, Dogo Argentino, Japanese Tosa, Rottweiler, Doberman Pinscher, Presa Canario, Boxer, Boerboel, Caucasian Shepherd Dog, Anatolian Karabash and Great Dane
Restricted
• Weapons and ammunition need an import permit from the Royal Oman Police.
• Drones need an import permit from the Royal Oman Police, approved before the drone leaves the country of export. Flying a drone in Oman also requires a valid licence.
• Night-vision equipment needs an import permit from the Royal Oman Police.
• Alcohol above the duty-free allowance needs an import permit from the Royal Oman Police.
• Some prescription and over-the-counter medicines are banned in Oman. Carry a copy of your prescription and check with Oman's Ministry of Health well before you travel.
• Dogs and cats need a prior veterinary import permit from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries Wealth and Water Resources, applied for through the customs Bayan system. The animal must be over 4 months old, microchipped, vaccinated against rabies after 12 weeks of age and within 12 months before import, and have a rabies antibody test (RNATT or FAVN) taken 21-30 days after vaccination and 3 to 12 months before travel. On arrival, show the import permit, a government veterinary health certificate from the exporting country, the vaccination record and the laboratory certificate.
