Free import

• Personal belongings in reasonable quantities for your own use. Customs recommends carrying only personal items in your baggage and sending heavy goods as cargo.
• You must declare anything that may be prohibited or subject to duty or tax. Show your passport and baggage tags to the customs officer and answer questions about your baggage truthfully.
• Sudan does not publish duty-free allowances for tobacco, perfume or gifts. Check with the Sudanese embassy before you travel if you plan to bring more than personal items.

Currency

• Cash, traveller's cheques and other bearer negotiable instruments worth more than EUR 10,000 (or the equivalent in other currencies) must be declared to customs on arrival on the declaration form.
• Undeclared or falsely declared money can be seized, and customs may ask about its source and intended use.
• Foreign credit and debit cards are difficult to use and most ATMs will not give cash. Bring US dollars; banknotes older than 2006 are not exchanged.

• Illegal drugs
• Pornographic material

Restricted

• Firearms and ammunition: only with prior permission from the Ministry of Interior.
• Satellite phones, radio transmitters, listening or recording devices and powerful cameras or binoculars may need a licence. Contact the Sudanese embassy before you travel.
• Drones: because of the armed conflict, bringing in, carrying or using a drone can lead to arrest, detention and confiscation of the equipment.
• Medicines: carry them in the original containers with a copy of the prescription and check that they are legal in Sudan.
• Food, plants, seeds and animal products may need a permit or health certificate. Check with the Sudanese embassy before you travel.
