• Personal effects in reasonable quantities for your own use are duty-free: clothing, shoes, toiletries, personal electronic devices, documents and medicines (with a prescription).
• For travelers over 18: 2 L of alcoholic beverages and 2 bottles of wine.
• For travelers over 18: 200 cigarettes or 100 cigarillos or 50 cigars or 250 g of smoking tobacco. If you carry more than one type, the total allowance is 250 g.
• Perfume and/or eau de toilette: 2 x 100 ml.
• Other new goods for personal, non-commercial use (including gifts and purchases made abroad) worth up to EUR 1,000 in total. Keep the invoices in case of a check.
• 1 laptop, 1 tablet and 2 mobile phones.
• The duty-free allowances do not apply if you have traveled more than twice in one month.
Currency
• You may bring in up to MGA 400,000 in Malagasy ariary.
• Declare all foreign currency to customs on arrival, especially if you plan to take any of it out again. You will get a certified declaration; without it, your money could be seized when you leave.
• Currency formalities are handled at the customs office at Door 87, Terminal C.

• Endangered wild animals and plants protected under CITES
• Illegal drugs and narcotics
• Counterfeit or pirated goods
• Pornographic material and items offending public morals
• Food unfit for human consumption
Restricted
• Live animals, including pets, and animal products need special formalities before they are allowed in.
• Plants and plant products, including fruit and vegetables, need special formalities. Do not bring food into Madagascar unless you have the required documents.
• Products made from endangered wild species are allowed only under CITES rules.
• Weapons and ammunition need special formalities.
• Alcohol and tobacco above the allowances are taxed under the General Tax Code.
• Radio transmitters and receivers and telephone equipment beyond the allowance need special formalities.
• Books, discs and other recorded media may be checked by customs.
• Declare at customs (yellow channel) any goods above the allowances, new goods worth EUR 1,000 or more, professional or sports equipment, commercial goods including samples, and baggage of more than 3 large suitcases.
