St. Kitts-Nevis Ex-Prime Minister Still Barred From U.S. Travel

St. Kitts-Nevis Ex-Prime Minister Still Barred From U.S. Travel
A London Daily report dated October 25 reveals that former St. Kitts-Nevis Prime Minister Dr. Denzil Douglas, whose U.S. visa was revoked in 2015 amid concerns over his government’s Citizenship-by-Investment program, has yet to regain entry privileges despite renewed lobbying. Current Prime Minister Timothy Harris told Parliament that correspondence from then-Secretary of State John Kerry cited inadequate due-diligence controls as grounds for the revocation.

While the case is largely political, it offers a cautionary tale for mobility planners working with Caribbean citizenship-by-investment holders. U.S. consular officers maintain broad discretion to revoke or refuse visas if they believe a foreign passport was obtained through programs vulnerable to illicit finance.

Companies employing second-citizen executives should verify admissibility before scheduling U.S. meetings, and consider the impact of potential revocations on succession and board-meeting logistics.
