• Liechtenstein forms a customs union with Switzerland: Swiss customs rules apply and the Swiss Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (FOCBS) carries out customs controls. Allowances apply per person per day.
• Personal effects of visitors (clothing, toiletries, sports equipment, cameras, mobile phones, laptops, musical instruments) that are used during the stay and taken out again.
• Ready-to-eat food and non-alcoholic beverages for the day of travel.
• Other goods for private use or as gifts with a total value of less than CHF 150 per person are free of VAT. From CHF 150, VAT is charged on the total value.
• For travelers aged 17 or older: 5 L of alcoholic beverages up to 18% alcohol and 1 L of alcoholic beverages over 18% alcohol.
• For travelers aged 17 or older: 250 cigarettes, cigars, heated tobacco products or nicotine cartridges for e-cigarettes, or 250 g of other tobacco products, or 250 ml of nicotine liquids for e-cigarettes, or 25 disposable e-cigarettes (or a proportional selection of these products).
• 1 kg of meat and meat products (excluding game), 1 kg/L of butter and cream, and 5 kg/L of edible oils, fats and margarine. Meat and dairy products are only allowed from the EU, Iceland, Northern Ireland and Norway.
• Customs duty is charged on quantities above these allowances.
Currency
• There is no limit on the amount of cash, foreign currency or bearer negotiable instruments (shares, bonds, cheques) that can be brought in, and there is no obligation to declare it.
• If questioned by customs, travelers must give truthful information. When carrying CHF 10,000 or more, travelers must disclose their identity, the origin and intended use of the cash and its beneficial owner. Refusing to answer or giving false information is a customs offence, and cash suspected of being linked to money laundering or terrorist financing may be seized.

• Butterfly knives, throwing knives, switchblades and other knives with an automatic or spring-assisted opening mechanism, and daggers

Pets arriving from countries with a high rabies risk also need a rabies antibody test and cannot be younger than 7 months; for direct arrival by air they also need an import licence from the Swiss Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office (FSVO). Pets from outside the EU must be presented for entry control, and at most five pets may travel in one private vehicle.
