Weekend metro shutdown on Line C disrupts airport-bound rail connections

Weekend metro shutdown on Line C disrupts airport-bound rail connections
The Prague Public Transport Company (DPP) has closed Metro Line C between Hlavní nádraží and Vltavská for the entire weekend of 25–26 October to replace ageing concrete beams at Florenc station. The shutdown severs the fastest rail link between the city’s main railway hub and the Airport Express bus at Vltavská. Replacement tram XC is running every 3–5 minutes, but journey times are up to 15 minutes longer.

Line C’s closure coincides with autumn-break travel and ongoing airport-road restrictions, compounding mobility headaches. Next weekend Line B will also see a blockade between Florenc and Vysočanská as Českomoravská station undergoes track works. Employers with large commuter populations should inform staff of alternative routes and consider flexible scheduling or remote-work options on Monday 27 October when restoration work may still be under way.
