Mumbai Airport Issues Passenger Advisory for VVIP Movement on 29 October

Mumbai Airport Issues Passenger Advisory for VVIP Movement on 29 October
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) has urged passengers to allow extra travel time to and from the terminals today, citing traffic restrictions linked to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the city for India Maritime Week 2025.

Mumbai Police have announced intermittent road closures along the Western Express Highway and near the airport entry ramp between 13:00 and 18:00 IST. Although flight operations remain on schedule, ground-handling agents warn that check-in queues could lengthen as passenger arrival patterns compress into narrower windows.

Corporate travel desks should notify travellers to depart hotels at least 60–90 minutes earlier than usual and consider the metro link to Airport Road station as a workaround. Ride-hailing surge pricing is expected in the afternoon peak.

While VVIP-related disruptions are routine, today’s advisory coincides with the post-festival surge; CSMIA handled a record 1,61,000 passengers on 25 October. Airlines will monitor the situation for possible grace periods on check-in cut-offs.

Business-critical cargo movements via Mumbai’s air-freight terminal could also face gate congestion; logistics teams may wish to reschedule perishable or high-value exports for late-evening flights.
